• Malawi's budget guidelines 2013/14 includes a chapter on sustainability with references to the Poverty-Environment Nexus Apr 23, 2013

    Following the government approval of the Guidelines for Integrating Environment and Natural Resource Management into national budgets in 2012, the Ministry of Finance have in the Guidelines for the preparation of the 2013/14 Budget included a chapter on the importance of the alignment with sustainability guidelines.

  • UNDP holds Implementing Partner review meeting Mar 25, 2013

    UNDP held an Implementing Partner (IP) Review Meeting on 25th March 2013 at Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe. Over 60 individuals from 20 IPs attended the meeting, which was officially opened by the Director for Debt and Aid Management in the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Peter Simbani. Ms. Naomi Kitahara, UNDP Acting Resident Representative gave the keynote address.

    UNDP and the Government of Malawi though the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare with support by UN Women, Oxfam and UNFPA) launched the Millennium Development Goals Acceleration Framework (MAF) Action Plan and White paper at the Bingu Conference Centre (Lilongwe) on 22 March, 2013.

    The twenty-seventh session of the UNEP Governing Council is being held at UNEP headquarters in Nairobi from 18-22 February.
