UNDP holds an Ethics and Integrity training for senior civil servants

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) held two training workshop on Ethics and Integrity for senior civil servants in Malawi. The objective of the workshops was to strengthen national integrity and accountability for principal secretaries, heads of constitutional bodies and directors, accountants and systems analysts in the public sector.

Inappropriate policies slowed Malawi’s economic growth in 2012

The 2013 African Economic Outlook has indicated that Malawi’s real GDP growth significantly slowed down in 2012 to 4.3% from 6.3% in 2010 mainly due to inappropriate policies that led to a growing fiscal deficit, raising inflation and the depletion of international gross reserves in a context of an overvalued exchange rate.

The government of Malawi in collaboration with World Bank and UNDP have launched the Aid Management Platform (AMP) public portal at Ufulu Gardens in Lilongwe. Minister of Finance, Maxwell Mkezalamba presided over the launch, which was followed by a workshop on open development for evidence based policy.

The leaders and youths were drawn from Government, political parties, religious institutions, youth organisations, schools, vendors associations, youth wings of political parties and institutions working on elections, made the pledge during a Youth Peace Solidarity March and Rally organised to mark the commemoration of the International Day of Peace (21 September) held at Blantyre Youth Centre.
